Judicial Nominees Done Injustice by Dems

Prolific author and national radio talk show host, Hugh Hewitt, posed a great question on his program Friday: “McClellan or Grant? Should the GOP leadership in the Senate push a confrontation with the Democrats over the filibustering of judicial nominees, and if the Dems filibuster even one judicial nominee, should the GOP move to the "nuclear option" of a rule change, even if Harry Reid threatens a Senate shutdown?”

My two word answer is: Tom Daschle.

That is synonymous for YES!

Tom Daschle is the former Democrat Senate Minority (& Majority for that matter) leader who lead the Democrats' obstruction attempt the first time; when voters had a chance to weigh in last November, he was voted out of office.

So yes, I vote for the Grant strategy, Republicans must force the issue: let the Democrats filibuster at their own political peril.

For those who don’t understand Hugh’s “McClellan or Grant?” scenario, allow me to explain a little Civil War history.

Early in the war, Lincoln’s choice to lead the Army of the Potomac was General George B. McClellan. He fancied himself as a “Little Napoleon,” he was a great caretaker of the Army, but his weakness was he never really wanted to use it to fight.

Today he would be akin to the guy who has the classic old hot rod that he’s always polishing, but never driving.

Prior to the Battle of Antietem, he came into possession of Gen. Robert E. Lee’s battle plans, and still couldn’t “whip him.”

The analogies of McClellan to the current Senate Republicans are surprising accurate; they just don’t seem to have the will to fight.

Even with the great success in last November’s election for President Bush and the Republican Party, they just don’t seem to want to take the battle to the enemy.

It’s truly pusilanimous, at best.

What the Republicans need to do is employ the Grant strategy. Just as Grant used superior numbers to constantly assail Lee, Republicans need to use their duly elected superior numbers to do whatever it takes to get votes on these judges.

And what they need to point out (and the more they can get the press to focus on it the better) is the fairness issue: people need to know that the issue here isn’t that the Democrats are voting against these judges, but that they’re blocking these judges from getting an up or down vote.

I believe that as more and more Americans understand that that is the battle being fought here, that that argument will resonate with the American people.

When the people see what Democrats are truly doing, national anger will begin to groundswell against them until the pressure forces them to relent, and mark them with another scar on their continued spiral into irrelevance.

History is a great teacher, after all, remember McClellan ran as a Democrat against Lincoln in the 1864 presidential election- and lost.

Senate Republicans: fight as Grant did, or cower and fail like McClellan.

Thoughts at LARGE

*** This will be an ongoing record of my general thoughts, which will be updated at will.***

1.) It's time for Japan to start defending herself.

Now that North Korea has nukes, and China threatens invasion of Taiwan: we need to stop subsidizing Japan's defense, it's time they start getting back on their defensive feet.

In the modern age of nukes, the day of expansion by force is over. That's a historical reality.
We are sliding back into a time that reminds me of pre-World War I: when all the World's powers were in alliances, that then, unfortunately, dragged them into the war in a chain reaction.

But the nuclear age is different, neither side of the alliance can move without certain anihilation.

So, alliances of the big powers, with minor nuke players are going to be common, it's sort of like... find a small state to fire nukes unoffically on your behalf, then let then suffer the consequences for your gain.

We need Japan on our side as a deterent, not a dependent.

2.) MASCOTS.
This may be the most inconsequential waste of time in our history, Native Americans and their quest to rid all mascots which refer to Native Americans.

Now first, mascots are picked out of pride, not malice.
I wonder, if there were no high school, college, or pro teams with Native American mascots, would they not cry discrimination and demand some?

I'm 5o% Sovenian: if any team, anywhere, wants to become the Fighting Slovenians, you have my complete support. 2-23-05

Liberals spin history, as usual

Can someone fill me in as to the end of Jim Boyd’s column from the Star Tribune on 2-20? Because after the 3rd paragraph I had to puke, and could not read on.

He starts decently enough, writing about the immigration explosion Mpls experienced in 1895, but then whines that there were not enough schools and hospitals for an area that went from “a few hundred residents, to 300,000.”

Alright, things weren’t perfect, it takes time to build a village.

But Mr. Boyd exposes his liberal bias in the dreaded third paragraph, when he turns a historical reprise into a socialist rant: he blames the slow social advance to: “capitalism run amuk.”

Hey, don’t blame me, that’s an exact quote, it’s not my misspelling of amuck.

Anyway, the point is, if a population grows 100 fold in a year, there’s going to be some growing pains.

Oh, but let me guess, in Mr. Boyd’s perfect government run socialist paradise, all the schools, hospitals & day cares would have been set up years before, at taxpayer expense, just waiting for the people to come.

Oh joy, liberal socialist utopia.

Now, can your Marxist is cookie cutter world build us a new baseball park?

Dems Vaporize Themselves

The Democrat Party is in absolute chaos, evidenced so obviously by the election of their new chairman: one Howard Dean.

Now, when you pick your opponents' top choice to run your group, there's got to be something wrong.

It's funny, the Democrats' bus is heading strait off the cliff. So what is their reaction?

Put in a new driver who hits the gas!!

It's like the Titantic went down, and they put the Captian in charge of the rescue.

All I can ask, is after watching his eerliy primeval scream last year, would you want to have him as your physician?

As far as I'm concerned, he's not stable enough to run a Taco Bell.

He recently came out and said "I hate Republicans." Now, where are the thought police enforcing all his hate speach?

This guy is coming off a presidential campaign where I think he won one state.

This is a leader I want running my party, well, my ex-party, actually.

The Democrat bus is hurtling over the cliff, it should be fun to watch with ol' irrational Howard at the wheel, pedal to the metal, screaming like Thelma & Loiuse all the way over!

"MSN" Blues

Now, from what I can tell, Bill Gates is a bright, decent guy, that said: how in the world has he let his once pioneering MSN become the laughingstock of American corporations?

To wit...

February '04, as an MSN customer I am deluged by requests from them to upgrade to their latest, and supposed greatest, new product: MSN 9.

Oh, they promised increased performance & tighter security; but what did I get?

Basically, they destroyed my computer. Thanks Bill.

As soon as I downloaded MSN 9, my computer was overwhelmed with computer viruses that would turn my computer off as soon as I turned it on.

I had to take it back to Best Buy and have them purge all the problems Mr. Gates had inflicted on my computer, cost: $90, thanks again Bill.

I only use my computer for 2 things, I play games and use email.

Now, I have invested probably $500. in Microsoft games, including all three Combat Flight Sims & all three Age of Empires, just to name a few.

However, ever since I "upgraded" to the scourge that is MSN 9, non of my MSN games will play anymore.

Hmmmm.

All my other games work, only my MSN games do not. Hmmm.

Again, I'm not making this stuff up; but when I emailed MSN, to alert them to the fact that my MSN games don't work anymore since I downloaded MSN 9, their response was (again, these are MSN games, and I'm not making this up) "see the manufacturer."

That is a direct quote.

Aggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BILL, YOU ARE THE MANUFACTURER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How in the world has a once forward thinking progressive company devolved into a cesspool that would make Dilbert proud?

Thanks once again, Bill.

Save the Bat

Sometimes I question God, sometimes I thank him.

While I have only a pedestrian brain, it is more than required to pummel liberals and environmentalist extremists, and their idiotic ideas.

Case in point: the bats.

In the city in which I work, St. Paul, MN, we have some caves.

We are on the mighty Mississipi River, and there is a bluff to the east of downtown which has some caves.

These are remnants of old sanstone mines, but are now home to youthful party folk. Can't afford a motel? Let's party in a cave.

The problem is, the new "love shack" is filled with carbon monoxcide gas.

Three unfortunate teenagers, who partied there, died last year because of it.

So, responsible politicians like Mayor Randy Kelly propose closing off the caves.

Well, oh no...say the micro managing liberals, this is the habitat of a bat.

Yes folks, one bat was seen in the area.

One bat.

I'm not making this up ( I wish I was) , the liberal environmental extremists want to save a bat, rather than protect children!!!!!!!!

Again, it doesn't take a genius to figure out the lunacy of a modern liberal.
