1.) It's time for Japan to start defending herself.

Now that North Korea has nukes, and China threatens invasion of Taiwan: we need to stop subsidizing Japan's defense, it's time they start getting back on their defensive feet.

In the modern age of nukes, the day of expansion by force is over. That's a historical reality.
We are sliding back into a time that reminds me of pre-World War I: when all the World's powers were in alliances, that then, unfortunately, dragged them into the war in a chain reaction.

But the nuclear age is different, neither side of the alliance can move without certain anihilation.

So, alliances of the big powers, with minor nuke players are going to be common, it's sort of like... find a small state to fire nukes unoffically on your behalf, then let then suffer the consequences for your gain.

We need Japan on our side as a deterent, not a dependent.

2.) MASCOTS.
This may be the most inconsequential waste of time in our history, Native Americans and their quest to rid all mascots which refer to Native Americans.

Now first, mascots are picked out of pride, not malice.
I wonder, if there were no high school, college, or pro teams with Native American mascots, would they not cry discrimination and demand some?

I'm 5o% Sovenian: if any team, anywhere, wants to become the Fighting Slovenians, you have my complete support. 2-23-05
